A dilapidated children's playground in Himley has been refurbished thanks to a £22,000 grant from Ibstock Cory Environmental Trust. The playground, which is situated on Himley Playing Field in the centre of the village, featured play equipment that had been in situ for more than 30 years and had been deemed to be unsafe during an inspection by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
The playground at Himley Playing Field is the only facility of its kind for children in the area. The Parish Council was keen to modernise the equipment at the earliest possible opportunity to avoid having to close the site, which would deprive children in the community of a much used leisure amenity.
ICET's grant has provided children with a safe, modern play equipment which is enjoyed by many local children and families.
