Langham Community Centre in Colchester always offers a warm welcome to visitors thanks to a new heating system. The Centre received a £15,000 grant from Enovert Community Trust towards the project.
The Centre’s old oil-fired boiler was 14 years old the system had become very inefficient, unreliable and costly. The project included the installation of an air-conditioning heating system in the main hall and club room, as well as upgrades to the fuse board, the decommissioning of the old boilers and removal of the oil tank.
Liz Winter, Secretary at Langham Community Centre, said: “We are very grateful to Enovert Community Trust for its generous grant, which has made the centre more welcoming and comfortable. A new heating system was vital to ensure that the Hall and Club room are warm enough for our older and more sedentary groups. Langham Community Centre is well used and available for hire seven days a week, with many local organisations hiring the facilities on an ongoing basis.”
The Trust first supported the project in 2016 with a £35,000 grant to make a series of improvements to upgrade the facilities at the Centre, including new windows throughout. This second grant ensures that the Centre is comfortable and welcoming whatever the weather.
